After installing a backsplash, how many hours should you wait to grout?

Nowadays, more homeowners are seeking ways on how to improve their abode and make it modern and functional, just like their favorite famous personalities. And because of that, there are many available budget-friendly ways on how to do it just by searching on the internet. It is fun exploring new things to learn, and it might become a hobby in the future. But it can be a bit time-consuming that needs patience because it will be a trial and error task, especially if it is your first time doing it.

The most common part of the house that always needs some improvement is the kitchen area, where it always has dirty grease stains from oil and all other cooking stuff residue. We do not want those filthy things to be in the place where we prepare our food. Backsplash installation is a big help whenever you clean the area because tiles make it so easy to remove all the unwanted dirt that is already building up.

If you are up for installing a backsplash, you need to learn a few things:

  • You need to make sure that the wall is clean by removing any grease or stains using a sponge with water and dishwashing liquid if there are any.
  • You should mark a centerline to know where to start and if the tiles are straightly installed.
  • You should turn off the power to the outlets if there are any. You might as well remove the cover plates so you can freely install the tiles and to avoid any injury.
  • It would be best to always start at the center to keep your lines even and symmetrical.

It is time for you to grout the tiles when everything has been installed. Before you grout, you need to wait for at least 24 to 48 hours so that the adhesive and mortar used will be fully dry and stick to the wall. The primary purpose of grouting the tiles is to prevent any dirt from going between the tiles and have a finished look. But if you think that you can not fully make it, it is better to seek help from an expert tile installer to avoid wasting the materials and time.
